Drawing is the discipline by which I constantly discover the world.
–Frederick Franck, artist
Take a moment to stop and draw the roses during this workshop with botanical illustrator Kathleen Garness . Under Garness’ skilled guidance, discover and connect with the natural world using graphite and colored pencils.
Garness has created illustrations for education programs and exhibitions at the Field Museum, the Chicago Botanic Gardens, and the Nature Conservancy. One of her personal missions is to use botanical art to educate people about our environment, especially the value of plants in our lives.
All materials will be provided and all experience levels are welcome.
This program is part of The Big Draw, the world’s largest celebration of drawing that takes place across the globe every year from October 1-31. The Big Draw Festival is for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t! The festival promotes drawing as a universal language that has the power to change lives and unite people of any age, background, race, or religion from around the globe.
