Alfred Stieglitz, (American, 1864-1946), The Steerage, 1905, photogravure, Acquired with funds provided by the Milly and Fritz Kaeser Endowment for Photography, 2014.011Considered by many as the father of modern photography, Alfred Stieglitz raised the status of photography to the level of art at the turn of the 20th century. At 5:30 pm, Curator of Photography, David Acton, will speak on Stieglitz in the exhibition Pictorialism: The Fine Art of Photography. The gallery talk will be followed by a screening of Alfred Stieglitz: The Eloquent Eye (2001) from 6-7:30 pm.
All 3rd Thursdays are free, open to all, include refreshments, exciting programs, interesting people, amazing works of art, and are a great way to connect with art in new ways. All of the exhibitions will be on view.
