The average museum visitor spends 15 to 30 seconds in front of work of art; we want you to defy that statistic. The Snite Museum invites you to spend 180 minutes over the semester looking at a single work of art in the exhibition Solidary & Solitary: The Joyner/Giuffrida Collection. You choose the art, and you decide how frequently you visit your work. Come in for ten minutes each week (like chatting with a friend!) or spend one three hour stretch with your work (like an intense first date!). Grab a stool or a cushion and settle in to journal, sketch, or simply look. Sign up and we'll provide you with a notebook in which to record your experience, send you words of encouragement and tips to keep looking from museum staff, and invite you to join us at a culminating “solidary" event with other “solitary” gazers. We think you’ll experience something profound in those three hours; or, at the very least, the work will show up in your dreams!
