Summer Apprentice Program

In the Summer Apprentice program qualifying high school students with an interest in art spend two weeks in June at the Snite Museum of Art exploring, in depth, a single medium under the guidance of a practicing artist.  Trips to area museums and artists’ studios are also included.

Students are recommended by their art teachers, complete an application, and are interviewed prior to acceptance.  A stipend is given to students participating in this program.  For more information contact the Curator of Education, Public Programs via phone at (574) 631-4435 or email for further information.

Each year, approximately 50 students from an area high school who are interested in art and related careers are invited to Notre Dame to observe and participate in studio classes taught by Art, Art History and Design graduate students and faculty. Sponsored annually by Friends of the Snite, High School Art Day provides students with the opportunity to experience college classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and product design.
