Louise Anella’s relationship with the University of Notre Dame goes back to her college days.
“I was a student at St. Mary’s College, which is just across the street from the University of Notre Dame,” Louise said. “My husband, Steve, is a ‘Double Domer,’ so we have a long-standing love of the place.”
Louise’s passion for the arts was kindled as a Belle, where she took regular art trips as a student. Nowadays she continues this practice of visiting art museums and exhibits, both at the Snite Museum of Art and regular trips to Chicago.
“The Snite is a wonderful resource for the entire community,” Louse said. “Each year I look forward to the many wonderful offerings, but especially to the annual Christmas party. It really kicks off the season for me, as I can meet so many friends and neighbors from throughout the South Bend area!”
Louise was appointed to the Board of the Friends of the Snite Museum in 2010 and been involved in many activities, including the Christmas Committee and chairing the Art & Architecture committee, where she planned trips to visit other museums, festivals, or attractions with the Friends Coordinator Mary Rattenbury. She now serves as Vice President of Development for the Board. “I have been thrilled to serve as a member of the Board. Working with Mary Rattenbury has been a highlight for me,” Louise said. She has so many wonderful ideas and really expands our experiences with the Snite beyond campus and into the community.”
It's evident that Louise’s love of the arts includes the local theatre and museum scene. She said, “I love to come to campus for the theatre and musical events. It is so great living in this community!”
