Latent Emissions, Chakaia Booker
Name: Bridget Hoyt
Position: Curator of Education, Academic Programs
Email Address: email@example.com
What is the most rewarding aspect of your position?:
My job is to integrate the Snite Museum into the intellectual life of the University in myriad ways. The most rewarding part of it is welcoming classes into the Museum and discussing works of art with students. I see and learn something new every day from the expertise and perspectives that our students bring into the Museum and generously share in our discussions.
How did you get into museum work?:
I found my vocation as an undergrad at Notre Dame! I was interested in museums, but I hadn’t yet figured out what I wanted to do with my history and art history majors. Through Notre Dame’s Dublin Program, I interned in the education department of the National Gallery of Ireland after my semester abroad. That experience tied together a lot of loose strands for me, and I thought “yep, this is what I want to do.”
Favorite work in the Snite Museum of Art?:
That’s a really hard question and the answer constantly changes. Right now, I’d say Fra Paolino’s Holy Family with St. Elizabeth and the Infant Baptist. The intensity of the look shared between Christ and John the Baptist overwhelms me!
