A series of programs in 2012 related to the two exhibitions, Dignity and A Person's Worth, and the campus-wide exploration of the writings of the Swiss philosopher and writer Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-78) will be offered in cooperation with other University departments, such as the College of Arts and Letters, the Kellogg Institute for International Studies and the Law School's Center for Civil and Human Rights.
The two exhibitions and the related events are made possible by a grant in support for the "Rousseau 2012: On the Road to DIGNITY Project" from the Henkels Lecture Fund, The Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, College of Arts and Letters, University of Notre Dame. Additional support has been provided by the Department of Romance Languages and Literature; the Kellogg Institute for International Studies; the Program in Liberal Studies; the Department of Political Science; the Department of History; the Center for Social Concerns; the Undergraduate Minor in Poverty Studies; the Program Gender Studies; the Department of American Studies and the Snite Museum of Art.

5:00 p.m. Lecture on "Rousseau and Human Rights," by Prof. Christie McDonald, French and Comparative Literature, Harvard University, followed by a reception in the Museum to celebrate the DIGNITY and A Person's Worth exhibitions and lecture series.

4:30 p.m. Lecture on "Rousseau and the Pursuit of Happiness," by Prof. Christopher Kelly, Political Science, Boston College

3:00 p.m. Performance of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's one-act opera, Le Devin du Village, by students in the Opera Notre Dame, Department of Music under the director of Mark Beudert.
